Caneyville, Clarkson come out on top at District Governors Cup as Grayson County elementary schools compete in two different districts.

The GCMS Jr. Beta Club took 6th place honors in the "Spotlight Your Club" competition at State, and Club members Peyton Ashley (B&W Photography) and Eli Kennedy (Essay Competition) are headed to Beta Nationals on the strength of their competitive entries.
 
DECA members celebrate on stage after Regionals wins
GCHS DECA wrapped up regionals with all 19 chapter members who competed awarded on stage for their exemplary performances. These students will all advance to state DECA competition, coming up March 4 - 6 in Louisville.   
GCMS Future Problem Solving Team
A strong 2nd place finish at Regionals nets the GCMS FPS Team another trip to State next month. Also advancing are Eli Powell, who took 3rd Place in Social Studies, and Macey Carby, who placed 5th in Composition.
 
 
GCMS All District Band members
All-District Band will feature 17 GCMS musicians who recently auditioned and were selected for the honor. They include . . . 
Lawler Quick Recall Team and trophies
Lawler Elementary came out on top at the annual Grayson County Quick Recall Challenge, with Caneyville Elementary in second place. The districtwide meet helps prepare elementary academic teams for upcoming Governor’s Cup competition. 
5th grade Spelling Bee winners, 1st - 3rd with trophies
UPDATE, Grades 6 - 8 : Great job by all competitors at the District Spelling Bee, and congratulations to the winners. After in-class and in-school events, finalists gathered at GCMS for the “main event.” 
GCMS and GCHS UK Men's Choral Day participants
GCMS and GCHS students participated in the recent UK Male Chorus Day, a unique opportunity for young male vocalists statewide to work with the school's choral students and AcoUstiKates a cappella group.  
GCHS Honors Band Members - WKU
Sixteen GCHS Band students recently represented the school in honor bands at two major Kentucky universities - WKU and U of L. 
GCHS Academic Team
Congratulations to the GCHS Academic Team for its excellent performance at the KAAC Governor's Cup District competition. The team bested McLean County, Ohio County, and Edmonson County to place first in Quick Recall and first overall in total number of school points. 
GCMS Academic Team
The GCMS Academic Team advances to Regionals next month with a runner up finish at District. The team places first in FPS and a very close second in Quick Recall. There were numerous individual medalists as well. Congratulations to the team and Coaches Nycol Hart and Ellen Thomas. 
Decorative, Makeup Days and School Bus
Makeup days for the recent snow closures will include Feb. 19 and Mar. 16. School will run on a regular schedule for all students and staff.
