In its first year of STLP (Student Technology Leadership Program), GCMS has had two students recognized at the State Level. Isaac Dowell placed 2nd in an Art on Demand Photoshop project, going head-to-head in a timed competition with more than 2 dozen students from around the state. Victoria Lofgren was recognized for her role in the Girls Who Code program and a potential Maker Space concept for GCMS next year.
The Lawler Elementary team also earned a berth at State, competing in a Level 2 Project, Quick Recall, Bench Challenge, Newscast, Website Design, Help Desk Support and Photo On-Demand.
Congratulations to these students, and the teachers and school leaders who have supported them this year –DeeDee Webb, Stephanie Brey, Samantha McGrew, Yevette Kopp and district CIO Jerrod Graybeal. Look for great things next year as more students take up the STLP challenge, especially those with an eye on tech careers.
