More than 200 students who have already earned career pathway certifications were celebrated today at a breakfast hosted in partnership with the Grayson County Chamber of Commerce.
According to GC Technology Center Director Matt Hayes, students with industry certifications have a higher GPA, graduate at a rate of 98% compared to those who don’t, and make 7% more in lifetime earnings. In addition, students with at least one certification are 92 percent more successful, in career opportunities and financially, plus they are able to immediately enter the workforce upon graduation.
The Tech Center recently received end-of-program assessment results which mean college credit for students who pass them. This year, the school had a pass rate of 71% the state average yet compared to 59% statewide. This translates to 444 hours of dual credit and tuition savings to students of $82,584 based on KCTCS rates.
Guest speaker Hope Tollett, Kentucky Farm Bureau agent, shared several life lessons and tips - both practical and inspirational - to take with them for these last few weeks of school and throughout their lives.
