Cody Mooneyhan, Mooneyhan earns national FCS Award

GCHS Family and Consumer Science teacher Cody Mooneyhan earned the Award of Merit from the National Association of Teachers of FCS (NATFCS) during the ACTE Vision conference held earlier this month in Phoenix.

The award recognizes a member (minimum of 10 years) who has made significant contributions to Family and Consumer Sciences, and/or ACTE and/or NATFCS and is considered an outstanding leader in the field. The winner is also awarded a lifetime membership to NATFCS. Mooneyhan was nominated by her FCS peers during the KY ACTE (Association of Career and Technical Educators) Summer Program.

Mooneyhan attended the conference in a dual leadership role, as a member of the KACTE State Board and the KATFCS State Board as FCS Service Area Vice President. While there, she was also elected President-Elect for NATFCS beginning July 2024 and will serve for a 3-year term on the National Board as President-Elect, President, and Past President.

“It was an honor to represent  GCCTE and KY FCS,” she said. In addition to all the accolades, she was just as excited about learning from the conference herself, and the many “innovative and collaborative tools and programs that we could use in Grayson County CTE.”
