GCHS FCCLA had a Top 10 sweep in STAR Events and came away from State Leadership Conference with honors galore!
Finishes included Julian Blakeman, 2nd Place, Modified Career Investigations; Brooklyn Aubrey, 2nd Place, Nutrition and Wellness; Donovan Heady,3rd Place, Teaching Strategies; Abigail Hall, 4th Place, Career Investigations; Addy Porter, 4th Place, Career Investigations; Lila Riggs, 5th Place, Public Policy Advocate; Ava Hayes, 7th Place, Say Yes to FCS Education; and Chloe Shartzer, 8th Place, Early Childhood Education
Donovan Heady and Addyson Porter were awarded the Agnes Foster Golden Horizon Award. for outstanding leadership. The award recognizes senior chapter members for their consistent faithfulness, often quietly working behind the scenes with patience, good humor, flexibility, and skill to ensure the success of their chapter and local community. Nominations come from each chapter and only 12 are awarded each year.
Several students earned their Power of One certificates and will be recognized at Nationals in Orlando this summer. These are Addy Porter, Chloe Shartzer, Ava Hayes, Brooklyn Aubrey, Ciera Froman, Tabitha Crossman, Leah Harrel, Donovan Heady, Julian Blakeman, Haylee Edwards, Jaida Logsdon, and Abigail Hall
Chloe Shartzer and Donovan Heady were awarded the Go for the Red Individual Award presented to individuals and chapters who have excelled in their recruitment efforts.
Leah Harrell served on the FCCLA State Nominating Committee.
Tabitha Crossman, Madison Winburn, Haylee Edwards, Jaida Logsdon, and Alaina Mudd competed in the State FCCLA Knowledge Bowl and advanced to the second-round bracket.
Carlee Gammon was recognized for winning the state FCS Poster Contest, receiving a medal and a check.
GCHS earned six National Program Awards and was recognized for its contributions to the Ronald McDonald House and Scholarship Fund.
And to top off all those successes, the GCHS contingent was also praised by attendees and advisers for their maturity, overall behavior, and leadership skills.
