Cougar Memories
On Dec. 6, the Grayson County High School Academic Team competed. In individual competition, Nolan Rister placed 16th in the math varsity portion with a score of 33. In the science varsity portion, Stella Rogers placed 2nd with a score of 65, Hunter Hayes tied for 9th place with a score of 44, Olivia Pons placed 12th with a score of 32, and Kathryn Eldridge placed 17th with a score of 17.
For the social studies varsity team, Anneliese McCray tied in 8th place with 88 points and Adyson Parker tied in 20th place with 46 points.
For the language arts varsity segment, Emelia Thurman tied in 10th place with 19 points. In the language arts JV segment, Abigail Schmidt had 17 points.
Arts and humanities varsity team Garon Johnson placed 7th with 68 points, and Ashley Coates had 16 points. In the arts and humanities JV team, Jocey Stinnet placed 3rd with 63 points, and Derek Mudd placed 7th with 58 points.
Altogether, the varsity team won five matches and lost three. The JV team won four matches and also lost four. Overall, the academic team did well at this competition.
