GCHS Archery competed at its first tournament on Jan. 10 at John Hardin High School. The team scored 3040 putting them in eighth place. Top scorer for the team was Isaac Fulkerson with a score of 275. Dax Lasley followed at 260 and Griffin Jaggers and Austin Clemons with 259 each for the boys team. Girls were led by Jana Dickerson with a score of 256. Madison Overton scored 255 and Macy Smith followed with a 249.

As reported in the Grayson County News, the team lost several seniors last year and is rebuilding. Coach Tim Woosley has said the team needs to focus to do better this season.

The team needs to score a 3100 to qualify for the 2026 state tournament. For the 15-members that shot on Saturday to reach the 3100-point goal, each would need to add four points each to their current score.
