Senior tea was a time for the seniors to reflect on how far they have come and how much more time and opportunities they have to grow. This bittersweet event, hosted by the Grayson County Detention Center as a tradition for several years, had been a day to honor seniors and the community members who have supported them thus far.

Kennedy Miller, a student of the class of ´26, while talking with her about how senior tea made her feel, stated, ¨It was nice to see all the kids I've grown up with get together and talk about our futures for one of the last times our whole senior class will be together¨

Although it is a good photo opportunity with multiple backdrops from businesses in the community, it was also a reminder that this is one of the last times the class of 2026 will likely be in the same room together, besides graduation, making this a bittersweet recognition. Among the guest speakers, the catered lunch, and karaoke, the seniors also received a letter. A letter from their 7th-grade selves. A little tangible reminder of how far they have come.

Landon Lowery, another student of the ‘26 class, stated, “I am excited to see what the future holds for all of us because of how far we’ve all come. I was also sad because I knew all of us would end up going our separate ways”

Regardless of where this class goes after graduation, the community can be proud of these students' accomplishments and growth, whether big or small.
