GCHS Health students at a surgical simulator

Nothing compares to a firsthand look at your future career!

GCHS Health Science students were the first high school group to spend a full day at the new HealthForce Kentucky Innovation Simulation Center in Owensboro today. Students from the Allied Health, MNA, and Phlebotomy classes explored the brand-new, 35,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility, which opened just last month.

While the HealthForce KY mobile unit has visited our schools several times, the new center offers additional tools and expanded simulation experiences that support hands-on learning tied to classroom instruction.

Students rotated through real-world healthcare stations, performing CPR in a respiratory therapy session, using laparoscopic tools in a simulated operating room, identifying patient safety hazards in a home setting, testing their emergency response knowledge in an immersive breakout room, and exploring anatomy using 3D computer models. What a way to learn!
